Scholarship Highlight

The subsequent scholarships have amounted to scholarship money that is over $300,000!!! Please do not hesitate to apply to these wonderful scholarships, and always check your ELIGIBILITY for each scholarship in order to find ones in which you fit all the requirements 

The Gates Scholarship

The Gates Scholarship is a highly selective scholarship that is awarded to the top 300 students in the US, in which the winners will receive funding for the full cost of attendance of any accredited institution.
Eligibility:
  • A high school senior
  • From at least one of the following ethnicities:  African American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American 
  • Pell-eligible
  • A US citizen, national, or permanent resident
  • A minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale
  • An outstanding academic record in high school (in the top 10% of his/her graduating class)
  • Demonstrated leadership ability (e.g., as shown through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities)
  • Exceptional personal success skills (e.g., emotional maturity, motivation, perseverance, etc.)

Coca- Cola Foundation Scholarship

The Coca-Coca Scholars Program Scholarship is a merit based scholarship which awards students for their service as well as in support of exceptional peoples’ thirst for knowledge and their desire to make a difference in the world.
150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship. The application will reopen on August 1, 2018, for students who will be high school seniors at that time.
Eligibility:
  • Current high school/home-schooled students attending a school in one of the 50 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, or select DoD schools who will graduate high school during the 2020-2021 academic school year
  • U.S. Citizens (not a Temporary Resident), U.S. Nationals, U.S. Permanent Residents, Refugees, Asylees, Cuban-Haitian Entrants, or Humanitarian Parolees - based on the guidelines utilized by U.S. Department of Education for Federal Financial Aid eligibility
  • Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution
  •  High school seniors with a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA may apply on our website in August of their senior year until the October 31 deadline.
​Application Requirements: Please check out the website and make an account. The first round is simply filling out basic information such as your academic record, extracurricular activities, and community based organizations you are a part of.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship

The Jack Kent Cooke College Scholarship Program is an undergraduate scholarship program available to high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend and graduate from the nation's best four-year colleges and universities.
Eligibility:
  • Graduate from a U.S. high school in spring 2021
  • Intend to enroll full time in an accredited four-year college beginning in fall 2021
  • Earn a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above
  • Demonstrate unmet financial need. We will consider applicants with family income up to $95,000. Last year’s cohort of new college scholarship recipients had a median family income of approximately $35,000. 
Application Requirements: Apply through the Common App! -Several short essays, college plans and intended major, two recommendations, and financial information. The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is test blind for the 2021 application!

Award: ​Up to $40,000 per year to attend a four-year accredited undergraduate school. In March 2020, 118 scholars were selected for the Cooke College Scholarship Program. The number of scholars each year varies.

Elks Most Valuable Scholarship

The Most Valuable Student scholarship is available to high school seniors who are United States citizens. Applicants do not need to be related to a member of the Elks. Applications are judged on academics, leadership, service and financial need.
​Eligibility:
  • You must be a current high school senior. High school graduates are not eligible.
  • You must be a citizen of the United States on the date your application is submitted; permanent legal resident status does not qualify.
Application Requirements: ​Leadership, academic achievements and records, ​community involvement, financial need(There is not a minimum income required in order to apply nor is there a maximum income we would not consider), online application(opens on August 5, 2020).

Award: 
  • The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2021 competition.
  • Male and female students compete separately.
  • Ranging from $1,000 per year to $12,500 per year, Most Valuable Student scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), in a U.S. college or university. All scholarships are in the form of certificates of award conditional upon the full-time enrollment of the winner in an accredited U.S. college or university.
  • The Chicago office of the Elks National Foundation will announce the 500 national winners in late April, 2021. (Many local Lodges, districts and state Elks associations award their own scholarships through this program. These scholarships are not to be confused with the 500 Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarships.)
  • The 20 Top Finalists traditionally participate in an all expenses paid Leadership Weekend in Chicago during which they’ll interview with the national judges. These 20 Finalists will be vying for two first-place awards of $50,000; two second-place awards of $40,000; and two third-place awards of $30,000. The remaining 14 finalists will receive awards of $20,000. The 480 runners-up will receive fifth-place scholarships of $4,000. ​

Horatio Alger Scholarship

The Horatio Alger National Scholarship Program is one of the major scholarship programs nationally that specifically assists high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. 
Eligibility:
  • Be enrolled full time as a high school senior in the United States; be progressing normally toward graduation in spring/summer of 2021 with plans to enter a college in the United States no later than the fall following graduation
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)
  • Demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required)
  • Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities
  • Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity
  • Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and
  • Be a United States citizen
Application Requirements: Requires transcript, four short essays, one letter of recommendation, copies of financial/tax information, and proof of citizenship, MUST attend conference in D.C. during senior year (funded by organization)

Award: 106 scholarships at 25,000 each. Only awardees will be notified. Fall applicants that are awarded will be notified via email and mail by January 30. Applicants for the spring (January-April) will be announced over the summer.  A listing of recipients will also be posted online.

Dell Scholars

Dell Scholars is a scholarship and college completion program that nurtures and empowers students on their path to a college degree.
Eligibility:
  • Participate in a program-approved college readiness program in grades 11 and 12(check website for approved college readiness programs) eg. Bottom Line
  • Be on track to graduate from an accredited high school in the current academic year
  • Demonstrate a need for financial assistance
  • Earn a minimum of a 2.4 GPA
  • Be eligible to receive a federal Pell Grant in first year of college
  • Plan to enroll full time at an accredited higher education institution in the pursuit of a bachelor's degree in the fall directly following high school graduation
Application Requirements: Requires transcript, numerous short essays, standardized test scores, one recommendation, and Completion of the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) and receipt of a Student Aid Report (SAR) demonstrating Pell grant eligibility.

  • A Scholars Resource Network that connects students and their families with resources to deal with stress, debt, managing child care, and life circumstance​

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship

The GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program honors the legacy and character of our nation's 40th President by rewarding college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education. Through the generous support of GE, this national program annually awards $10,000 renewable scholarships to numerous students.
Eligibility:
  • demonstrate at school, at the workplace, and within the community the attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship;
  • demonstrate strong academic performance (minimum 3.0 grade point average/4.0 scale or equivalent);
  • be citizens of the United States of America;
  • be current high school seniors attending high school in the United States (students living on U.S. Armed Forces base and homeschooled students are also eligible); and
  • plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study toward a bachelor’s degree at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year.
Application Requirements: Online application, transcript, essay on your leadership experience, short statement of your educational and career objectives, financial information from your parents' most recently filed tax return.

Award: Each year, the Program selects numerous recipients to receive a $10,000 scholarship renewable for up to an additional three years – up to $40,000 total per recipient. Awards are for undergraduate study and may be used for education-related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, room, and board. In addition, Scholars are invited to participate in a special awards program and receive ongoing leadership-development support.

Jackie Robinson Scholarship

This award is aimed at outstanding minority high school students who demonstrate leadership potential and dedication to community service. Applicants must have financial need and attend a four-year college. In addition to money, scholars receive a variety of support during college, including mentoring and access to internship and job placement help.
​Eligibility:
  • Be a graduating high school senior;
  • Plan to attend an accredited and approved four-year institution within the United States;
  • Show leadership potential;
  • Demonstrate a dedication to community service;
  • Present evidence of financial need;
  • Be a United States citizen;
  • Have a minimum SAT score of 1,000 combined on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 21;(this may change when the application opens on November 1st, and their application requirements change as a result)
  • Not possess a degree from a 2 or 4–year College when applying for the scholarship
Application Requirements: Application portal, recommendations, official transcripts, test scores, and extracurricular activities or community based involvement.
Deadline: Usually February 1st(TBD)

Cameron Impact Scholarship

The Bryan Cameron Education Foundation (“Foundation”) awards four-year, full-tuition, merit-based undergraduate scholarships to exceptional high school students who have demonstrated passion and commitment in academics, extracurricular activities, leadership, and community service. The Cameron Impact Scholar is unique among their high-achieving peers in their desire to make an impact on their communities and in the world at large. Our Scholar aspires to contribute to positive forces for change and plans to tailor their education to that end.
Eligibility:
  • The Foundation will allocate approximately 25%, or a quarter of the scholarships to individuals pursuing careers in education, nonprofits, government, and/or military and have a stated professional goal of public service
  • Prioritize academic excellence (maintaining a minimum cumulative unweighted 3.7 grade point average/4.0 scale or equivalent in their high school studies);
  • Be a citizen of the United States of America;
  • Be in the high school graduating Class of 2021, planning to enroll in a full-time course of study toward a bachelor’s degree at an accredited four-year U.S. college or university for the full academic year following high school graduation;
  • Demonstrate passion and commitment to extracurricular activities. This includes, but is not limited to: athletics, academic clubs, music lessons, performance art, employment, meaningful contributions to the home, and philanthropic organizations;
  • Be motivated leaders with a strong work ethic and social acumen. Scholars rise to the occasion and are both candid and confident;
  • Demonstrate active participation in community service and in civic-minded arenas, exhibiting an appreciation for the world outside themselves and a belief in their own capacity to effect change on scales both large and small;
Application Requirements: ​Online Application, two (2) required Letters of Recommendation** (these letters MUST be submitted prior to the Application Deadline for an Application to be considered complete), and Transcript (unofficial is fine) certifying academic performance.

Award: This four-year, merit-based scholarship (“Scholarship”) is intended to cover the full tuition and ‘qualified educational expenses’ (as defined by the Internal Revenue Service) at the recipient’s chosen collegiate institution (estimated to be between $20,000-$50,000 per annum). ‘Educational expenses’ vary amongst higher institutions, but the Scholarship is intended to cover tuition, fees, course-related expenses, books, supplies, and equipment. the Cameron Impact Scholarship is open to all applicants who meet the GPA and citizenship requirements, regardless of race, socioeconomic status, religion, sexual orientation or any other background factors.
