Recommendations

What are Letters of Recommendation?

Letters of Rec are an important component of the college application process. Recommendation Letters provides an insight into your character and intellectual activities, and it allows admission officers to view you in the eyes of another. It is imperative that you do not undermine the value of recommendation letters, it is a place where counselors, teachers, and other individuals can initiate perspectives on your academic and personal strengths in an effort to help you receive admission to your desired colleges.

How Many Are There?

The amount will vary from school to school, so you must check the requirements for the universities in your respective college lists. But most likely, colleges will require one or two recommendation letters from teachers, and one from your guidance counselor. Colleges also allow students to submit additional recommendations from other people, but in most cases. However, if that additional rec does not provide new insight to your application, it is highly suggested that you not submit it. Colleges acquire numerous recommendation letters from thousands of applicants, so please refrain from submitting extra recommendation letters unless you deem it necessary.
Please view the respective subpages for more information on the specific recommendation letters!
