Why is the Counselor Recommendation Letter Important?
The counselor recommendation letter can help shed light into your personal growth and role within the school community. Your counselor will speak on your strength of character and interpersonal skills, as well as the your goals during and following college Things to Know:
Please set up an meeting with your assigned guidance counselor to interview for counselor recommendation(September-October)
If you are applying early action/decision, please make sure you set up a meeting with your guidance counselor ASAP
Please use the link below to request a counselor recommendation. Please submit this form to your guidance counselors before the respective deadline for the 2022-2023 school year, in order to assure that the recommendation will be completed before its due date. Otherwise, BLA counselors cannot ensure that it will be done in time!
What should the school counselor college recommendation letter say? A good counselor letter should address the following:
Provide a picture of who you are beyond that which is clear in other parts of their application (transcript, common app, essay, etc).
Highlight academic growth, challenges overcome, strengths, and/or accomplishments (with specific examples to be provided by the student).
Speak to any meaningful involvement outside of the classroom.
Provide context for any extenuating circumstances that may have impacted the student’s achievement.
